Job summary

Breast Radiology Assistant 22.5 hrs Band 3 - WCH

An opportunity has arisen within the Breast Radiology department as a Radiology Assistant.

The Breast Screening unit provides a screening and symptomatic service to the women of North Cumbria aged between 50 and 70.

Women are offered breast screening appointments every 3 years at 2 sites in North Cumbria, Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital.

The department also provides imaging support for a one-stop outpatient breast clinic in conjunction with the Breast Surgeon, performing image guided breast interventional procedures. In addition imaging is provided for the follow up of post treatment patients and also family history screening.

The successful candidate will be expected to work as a member of the Breast Imaging team to assist in the provision of high quality breast imaging, assist the breast radiology with interventional procedures, set trollies for procedures as well as assist with any relevant admin duties.

The successful candidate will be based at West Cumberland Hospital , however cross site working may be required to meet demands of the service.

Main duties of the job

Main duties:

Greet and escort women to changing area an assist them to prepare for their x-ray or ultrasound examination by giving clear instructions and helping with undressing/dressing where appropriate

Assist women during special x-ray and ultrasound procedures

Assist in clinical procedures under direction of Imaging staff

Show a caring responsible attitude towards all patients, clients and visitors

Have the ability to work under own initiative and also be a team player within the breast multi-disciplinary team
