Qualifications

Essential

• Registered Nurse (adult), with active registration
• ALERT or equivalent
• Teaching qualification or equivalent

Desirable

• ALS or equivalent
• Relevant development at level 3 or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• Surgical experience
• Budgetary awareness
• Clinical supervision
• Continuing professional development, with portfolio
• NMC code of conduct
• .Professional leadership within area of practice.

Desirable

• Mentor to pre-registration nursing students
• Audit and research in practice

Skills and Aptitudes

Essential

• Developed communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to act as a clinical supervisor, mentor and preceptor as required.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Able to use modified early warning score to identify patients at risk.
• Able to catheterise, perform venepuncture, IV cannulation, administer IV drugs, check drug dosages
• Ability to demonstrate the compassionate values and behaviours needed for dignified care

Desirable

• IT skills
• Project development skills

• Willing to develop by expansion of the role
• Willing to work in other areas if required.
