Job summary

INTERNAL ONLY TO NORTH CUMBRIA INTEGRATED CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST (NCIC) EMPLOYEES ONLY

Respond to the patient with patience and empathy that promotes privacy and dignity

Follow protocols for dealing with major events, e.g. cardiac arrest.

Undertake general porter duties between the wards/pharmacy/cardiology departments to ensure the flow within the department.

To ensure the department has adequate supplies of stock required to run on a daily basis.

Order stock and products to distribute to the areas concerned on a regular daily basis.

Main duties of the job

Work with the supplies department, companies and nursing staff to ensure stock levels are maintained

Carry out regular stock takes

Prepare and provide details to the finance department on request and participate in the yearly stock take of all stock held within the department

Check stock and goods received against suppliers delivery note e.g. for accuracy of delivery and suitable shelf life.

Maintain safe working practices when unpacking, checking and storing goods

Recognise and report situations which may require qualified nurse interventions

Ability to use Excel effectively and have a willingness to learn the departmental electronic stock control system and problem solve if issues arise.

Ensure the stock room is clean and tidy.

Use supplier documentation to return incorrect or damaged goods etc. to the supplier for credit. Correctly identify any damaged, faulty or out of date items and move them to the appropriate location.

Chasing queries, checking deliveries and identifying any discrepancies with orders

Willingness to attend additional training relevant to the role.

Comply with infection prevention techniques at all time following protocols.
