Qualifications

Essential

• Educated to higher certificate/diploma level or equivalent on-the-job experience
• Completion of the Level 3 Simulation Technician Apprenticeship including end point assessment

Desirable

• Simulation Technician Education Programme (STEP) or willingness to complete

Knowledge

Essential

• Knowledge of coding/programming languages
• Experience of working in a simulation education environment
• IM&T skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of Laerdal LLEAP program and sim designer
• Experience with Laerdal Manikins
• Experience utilising social media/multimedia and video conferencing software
• Experience using audio visual equipment including VR headsets
• Ability to troubleshoot multimedia equipment (laptops, PC's, tablets, simulation equipment)
• A detailed awareness of up-to-date, robust approaches to delivery of simulation based education to healthcare professionals
• Capacity to understand complex situations related to the co-ordination and implementation of simulation based education
• Ability to plan and organise the installation and maintenance of all simulation equipment
• Ability to plan equipment audits to ensure equipment and software are operating at required level
• Ability to plan for a variety of simulation sessions and centre users needs
• Mentor and line manage the simulation technician apprentice

Desirable

• ECDL qualification or equivalent
• Experience of computer systems repair/upgrade and audio visual installation/repair
• Experience using enhanced technology teaching methods ie clinical simulation manikins

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to persuade, motivate and organise others
• Excellent organisational skills in order to prioritise and schedule complex work carried out within the simulation suite
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and ability to troubleshoot a range of technical problems with specialist manikins, IT and audio-visual equipment
• Ability to analyse and interpret highly complex clinical and technical information in order to provide technical support during simulation training
• Ability to provide training and support to users in the correct operation of audio-visual and simulation equipment
• Responsible for ensuring that all technical and equipment requirements for simulation courses are provided and set up appropriately in a timely fashion in accordance with recognised protocols
• Responsible for ensuring that all audio-visual and simulation equipment in use within the simulation suite functions effectively at all times
• Advise, teach and demonstrate specialised simulation, AV IT equipment to newer members of the team and wider clinical faculty
• Ability to prioritise own workload and work under minimal supervision
• Ability to forward plan and work to tight deadlines
• Recognises own limitations
