Job summary
The Specialty Doctor is responsible for the Consultants in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In his/her work, the job holder liaises with nursing, professional and technical, social work, managerial and administrative staff.
This post will be responsible for the support for the ED & SDEC departments and the Gynaecology emergency patients who attend.
In addition this post will support with the BSOTS triaging.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to:Manage the labour ward and the gynae emergencies with the support of the obstetrics and gynaecology consultant
Be the point of contact for the ED and SDEC departments to ensure the Gynaecology & Obstetrics patients are seen, providing an in-reach support.
Work with professional colleagues and managers to ensure the efficient running of services
Work closely with other specialist teams
Assist with service improvements and the development of business plans toinform the future strategic direction
Participate in clinical meetings and postgraduate activities in the Trust.
Share with colleagues the role of educational or clinical supervisor to junior doctors in training, including induction, supportive formal appraisals, supervision of learning portfolios, and career advice as appropriate.
Provide bedside and teaching for Junior Doctors and other members of the multidisciplinary team
Participate in a Friday afternoon formal teaching rota based on RCOGcurriculum, new guidelines and research
Assist in PROMPT course training annually
Undertake personal development and mandatory training
