Specialist Dietitian Diabetes

Job summary

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Dietitian to work within the specialist Diabetes Service in North Cumbria. The post holder will be a key member of the specialist multi-disciplinary team and provide a clinical dietetic service to patient's both individually and in a group setting.

We would accept applications from band 5 positions interested in a band 5-6 development post.

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Dietitian with excellent communication and team working skills. Experience of MDT working is essential and working within weight management and diabetes is desirable. You would be expected to input into the weekly MDT and provide nutritional education to the core patient group as well as see patients for individual intervention where appropriate.

Diabetes experience/knowledge isn't essential. Applications from those with an interest and a willingness to learn will be considered.

The post will be based in Carlisle however there will be the expectation to cover the service in the West of the County should the need arise.

Main duties of the job

To provide an evidence based, high quality, equitable Diabetes service to the population within the localities in North Cumbria across both the acute and community sectors.

To act as a specialist resource for patients and professionals on all aspects of Diabetes and diet

Working within North Cumbria Diabetes Service to provide an effective, safe, friendly, realistic and efficient Diabetes Dietetic service to the population of Cumbria across secondary and community sectors. Aiming to achieve high quality, consistent care, for all patients, within North Cumbria Integrated Care

Delivering structured education programme for Type 1 diabetes - Type 2 and Gestational diabetes

Information and help is requested and provided to consultants, GP's, nurses, allied health professionals, the general public and the local media (newspapers/television/local radio).
