Urology Nurse Specialist Band 6, 30 hours per week permanent
This post is to compliment the existing nursing team within Urology. This post will be to work across site at Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital.
The post holder will provide high quality specialist nursing care to patients with urological conditions, using clinical expertise, leadership and management skills to ensure co-ordination of the care of patients with urological cancers and benign urological conditions providing a seamless service for patients and their families. The post-holder will provide support and advice to patients and their families as well as acting as a resource to other professionals.
The job purpose is to support the Urological service which is currently offering Monday - Friday out-patients services for Urological patients requiring diagnostic or therapeutic interventions for a variety of Urological conditions.
Our current service delivery includes urodynamic assessments, diagnostic flexible cystoscopy lists, trial without catheter clinics, prostate biopsy clinics, lithotripsy treatment for renal stones, complex catheter clinics, etc.
Main duties of the job

To undertake prostate triage for patients referred on a two week rule.
To undertake nurse led clinics and support medical teams with results clinics in line with identified protocols and clinical guidance.

- To support band 5 with clinical work load, for example trial without catheter clinics when required.
- Lower urinary tract symptoms assessment clinic
Supporting band 5 clinic for complex teaching of intermittent self-catheterisation and/ or Urethral dilatation / catheter changes

- PTNS (percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation) Clinics
- Over active bladder treatment clinics
- Prostate triage support
- Supporting with cancer results clinic
- Attending MDT and providing follow care and treatment
