Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

• youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure
• the multiple conviction rule has been removed, meaning that if an individual has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than being automatically disclosed.

Skills and aptitudes

Essential

• Understanding of the basic philosophy of rehabilitation
• Evidence of ongoing training & mandatory courses
• Understanding of the role of all MDT disciplines - OT, PT, psychology and SALT
• Self-awareness and appreciation of limitations
• Understanding of reflective practice and its application

Desirable

• Experience with stroke patients

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• Evidence of working within rehabilitation
• Able to work with a wide range of people

Desirable

• Experience of working in a community setting
• Experience of lone working
• Experience of working with stroke patients
• Previous experience of working in a multi- disciplinary team

Qualifications

Essential

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in health/ Rehabilitation
• Care Certificate or the willingness and ability to undertake (applicable for all non-registered support workers that provide health care)

Desirable

• IT qualification
• Specific stroke rehabilitation course

• Car driver essential due to rural caseload

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
