North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

Specialist Community Dietitian

The closing date is 03 September 2025

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic dietitian to join our well-established community dietetics team at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC). This 12-month fixed-term role offers the chance to develop clinical expertise in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

We are seeking a motivated professional with strong clinical knowledge and a passion for community-based care. You'll need a broad understanding of conditions commonly seen in the community and be confident managing patients across all age groups. Strong communication and team-working skills are essential.

You'll provide high-quality care to individuals referred by GPs, community hospitals, care homes, and other professionals. The role also includes managing a caseload of enterally-fed patients, supported by our dedicated Enteral Nurse Specialist.

We prioritise professional development, offering regular supervision, CPD opportunities, and the chance to mentor student dietitians from North West and North East universities--an initiative consistently rated four stars. Full IT and secretarial support is provided.

This role is ideal for experienced Band 6 dietitians or Band 5s ready for the next step--all while enjoying the excellent quality of life in North Cumbria and the nearby Lake District.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver a comprehensive and patient-centred community dietetic service within NCIC, providing both clinical care and education across a diverse caseload.
  • Offer expert advice and specialist input into the nutritional management of patients of all ages, covering areas such as nutritional support, gastrointestinal disorders, food allergies, weight management, home enteral feeding, and in-patient care in community hospitals.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Nutrition & Dietetic service, working collaboratively with colleagues and Dietetic Leads on audits, service evaluation, and innovation.
  • Play an active role in a supportive, knowledgeable, and passionate team of 19 dietitians and 4 dietetic assistants/apprentices across acute, community, and paediatric settings, delivering evidence-based, high-quality dietetic care throughout North Cumbria.
