Healthcare Chaplain

Job summary

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to recruit a healthcare chaplain to join the chaplaincy team in promoting pastoral, emotional, spiritual and religious wellbeing. The chaplains provide pastorally sensitive, skilled, compassionate person-centred care for patients, families, carers, NHS staff, volunteers and students - for all faiths and none.

The post is based in the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven. The chaplain must be prepared to work across the Trust. Applicants must have recognised authority/permissions from their relevant faith, denomination or belief group.

Main duties of the job

Under the guidance of the lead chaplain, to provide spiritual, pastoral and religious care of patients, relatives, carers and staff within the Trust.

to minister to patients, staff, carers and families regardless of denomination, faith or belief within the hospital environment as requested;

to work collaboratively alongside colleagues (internal and external to the Trust) and with members of all local faith communities in respect of the spiritual, pastoral and religious care of patients, families, carers and staff;

to actively participate in service improvement that promotes the spiritual, pastoral and religious care needs of patients, carers and staff.

to participate in on-call cover;
