An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly motivated paediatric nurse to develop their career within the area of childhood and adolescent epilepsy.
Working alongside colleagues who specialise in Epilepsy management, this role has a particular focus on supporting children and young people with an epilepsy diagnosis who also have a known complex health need or Learning Disability, and includes providing information, training and support to the CYP, their families/carers and other professionals involved in the child's education, welfare and well-being. The role will involve seeing CYP in both clinics and school settings.
Funded by North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System, this is a fixed term post for 24 months, as part of the Child Health and Wellbeing Network, and the impact and influence of this role will be monitored and reported back to the network. Working s part of the Child Health and Wellbeing Network provides an opportunity for close interdisciplinary working relationships as well as building a professional relationship with CYP and their families working within a defined caseload. A secondment to this role would be considered in line with the appropriate policy.
Main duties of the job
As a member of the CYP Epilepsy team, you will be responsible for the delivery of high quality and holistic evidence-based advice and guidance to children, young people with a diagnosis of epilepsy, as well as their families and carers.
To work under the direction of the specialist nurses, supporting a caseload across North Cumbria.
To be involved in the delivery of outpatient clinic appointments, both independently and with others supporting the CYP's epilepsy management. .
To work in partnership with children, young people, their families and education settlings, offering support, emotional and clinical support.
To support young people with epilepsy in the safe transition from Children's to adult services.
Engage in regular project team meetings to monitor delivery of the programme and its impact
A comprehensive understanding of safeguarding procedures is required.
