Job summary
The Specialty Doctor is responsible for the Consultants in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In his/her work, the job holder liaises with nursing, professional and technical, socialwork, managerial and administrative staff.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to:To manage the labour ward and the gynae emergencies with the support of the obstetrics and gynaecology consultantWork with professional colleagues and managers to ensure the efficient runningof servicesWork closely with other specialist teamsAssist with service improvements and the development of business plans toinform the future strategic directionParticipate in clinical meetings and postgraduate activities in the Trust.Share with colleagues the role of educational or clinical supervisor to juniordoctors in training, including induction, supportive formal appraisals, supervisionof learning portfolios, and career advice as appropriate.Provide bedside and teaching for Junior Doctors and other members of themultidisciplinary teamParticipate in a Friday afternoon formal teaching rota based on RCOGcurriculum, new guidelines and researchAssist in PROMPT course training annuallyUndertake personal development and mandatory training
