Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

• youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure

Qualifications

Essential

• Current registration with a professional body e.g. NMC, HCPC or GPhC
• Completed Master's degree qualification (or equivalent prior to MSc being available e.g. Nurse Practitioner Degree, OSCEs and non-medical prescribing)
• Independent prescriber
• Advanced clinical practice skills and clinical treatment skills
• Mentor/teaching qualification
• Evidence of substantial clinical practice at advanced level in portfolio
• Evidence of competence within all core ACP competencies (as per DHFT ACP framework)

• Leadership qualification/course

Experience

Essential

• oExperience in managing acute problems
• oClinical diagnostic skills including the ability to interpret radiology and laboratory investigations
• oEvidence of a teaching/coaching/ mentoring course
• oSubstantial broad experience relevant to clinical area
• oExperience in leadership and/or management
• oEvidence of competence within all core ACP competencies
• oHas the ability to use basic IT systems including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as ability to learn Trust specific IT systems
• oEvidence of substantial clinical practice at advanced level in portfolio
• oBroad and advanced knowledge of clinical pathophysiology
• oHas a sound level of knowledge in relation to invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• oAbility to take a full systematic focused history
• oAbility to make a diagnosis based on interpretation of imaging and pathology results
• oHas the knowledge to support safe clinical decision making in relation to discharge
• oWillingness to perform and or learn advanced clinical skills appropriate to area of practice
• oAbility to manage complete episodes of care and prioritise workload
• oExperience within acute care

Desirable

• Experience in managing chronic health issues
• Experience of minor injury assessment/ management, to include X-ray interpretation

Knowledge

Essential

• oEvidence of continual CPD aligned to a professional body, e.g. Royal College, or academic institution
• oAdvanced clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
• oBSc/MSc level therapeutics or pharmacy related knowledge and non-medical prescribing
• oHighly motivated and experienced practitioner

Skills & Aptitudes

• oPhysically able to perform all requirements of the ACP role where highly developed skills and accuracy are required which may include: suturing, IVIs drug administration, central line care, applying plaster casts, inserting catheters and other specialist procedures relevant to area of practice
• oWillingness to perform and or learn advanced clinical skills appropriate to area of practice
• oAbility to manage a team of patients and prioritise workload
