Due to the current post holder going on maternity leave, this post is ring fenced to members of the Clinical Coding Team as a development opportunity. The role of the clinical coding team is to enable the Trust to accurately monitor the productivity and efficiency of its patient services. The service is responsible for coding of admitted patient care episodes in order to meet nationally agreed timescales, ensuring accuracy and completeness of coding and the correct HRG assignment so that no revenues is lost to the Trust.
The duties of the Clinical Coding Manager are to be the lynchpin between the clinical coding team and the clinicians, and senior managers (finance, etc) to support maximising the financial impact but whilst ensuring the clinical coding standards are met. The most important aspect is maintaining the wellbeing of the clinical coding staff and supporting them to achieve. This involves leading on distinct pieces of work and ensuring clear communication to all stakeholders; managing the staff and dealing with various People Services issues (i.e. sickness absence).
The skills required for the post are being a qualified clinical coder, fully conversant with the 3M Medicode system and show compassionate leadership in their approach with the team whilst being focussed to deliver key performance indicators.
Main duties of the job
The Trust is a Clinically led Organisation and a key element of this is ensuring the delivery of integrated Digital Healthcare service to ensure our clinical services and management process are modern, safe, effective and well governed. The Digital Healthcare department is comprised of five distinct areas, Digital Programmes, Information Governance & Data Protection, Information Technology, Information and Patient Services and PRIMIS (Primary Care Information Services).
This post sits within Digital Healthcare.
Clinical Coding - Enabling the trust to accurately monitor the productivity and efficiency of its patient services.
