Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

• youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure

Qualifications

Essential

• 1st level registered nurse
• Consultation and clinical assessment experience or qualification or commitment to attain
• Evidence of continual professional development
• Recognised qualification and experience in Cardiology/Heart Failure or commitment to attain qualification
• Mentoring or assessment qualification
• Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

• Educated to masters level
• Advanced communication skills training/qualification from a recognised body.
• Appropriate cardiology consultation and clinical assessment modules
• Masters module in heart failure
• Non-medical prescribing qualification
• Recognised qualification in teaching or equivalent experience

Knowledge and experience

Essential

• Good knowledge of caring for people with heart failure, including Cardiac anatomy, physiology and pathology and treatments required
• Relevant cardiology experience
• Ability to apply research findings and support evidence based practice
• A commitment to excellent patient care
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• IT literate with a sound knowledge of IT skills
• Ability to think innovatively
• Willingness to maintain currency in field through CPD
• Ability to meet deadlines, sometimes under pressure.

Desirable

• Specialist knowledge of caring for people with heart failure, including Cardiac anatomy, physiology and pathology and treatments required
• Experience of primary care provision
• Caseload management
• Palliative care experience/ knowledge
• Participation in BSH nurse forum, BSH conference or similar
• Experience of change management, service review and development

Skills and aptitudes

Essential

• Post-basic qualification experience, of which some must include in-depth experience in relevant field
• Evidence of the development of clinical competence in the speciality
• Experience of and ability to work unsupervised as a member of the multidisciplinary clinical team
• Experience of undertaking audit
• Heart rhythm interpretation
• Clinical assessment skills
• venepuncture and result analysis

Desirable

• Experience of undertaking research
• Clinical supervision, mentoring and assessment of developing staff
• Evidence of management and leadership experience
• Exercise a high degree of autonomy within specialist area
• Advanced clinical assessment skills
• 12 Lead ECG interpretation.
