Job summary
NCIC Occupational Health & Wellbeing Service has a core Occupational Health team of Advisors, Nurses, HCAs and a vacancy for an Consultant OH Physician. The team are responsible for supporting the health and wellbeing of staff from commencement in post through to their retirement, advising staff and managers on fitness to work, reasonable adjustments, risk assessments, vaccination uptake and promoting wellbeing in the workplace.
The successful applicant will be required to work 10 sessions of Programmed Activity per week, 1.5 of which will be Supported Professional Activity (SPA).
The sessions can be timetabled flexibly with the successful applicant and the post-holder will be required to work flexibly across the Trust premises to meet the changing demands of the service.
The post holder will be managed by the Lead for Occupational Health, with professional responsibility to the Responsible Officer
The post holder will work closely with other members of the Occupational Health Department as well as working autonomously. Responsibilities will include working in a variety of settings including working from differing work place sites. The department is open Monday- Friday 08:30 16:30 although you will need to have some flexibility around hours from time to time.
Main duties of the job
The main duties and responsibilities of this post are to;
- Make an effective contribution to reaching the Trust's vision, strategic objectives and key work programmes
- Provide clinical leadership to the Occupational Health team
- Provide clear and timely advice to managers, employees and HR
- Provide advice to the organisation on medical assessment of new employees in line with the provisions of the Equality Act, immunisations, statutory medical examinations and clinical assessments for fitness to work
- Enhance and develop the Trusts Occupational Health and Wellbeing services
- Promote the highest clinical standards in the delivery of Occupational Health medicine and care
- Work in conjunction with the Service Lead to provide effective delivery and management of the service
- Participate in the teaching and clinical supervision of the Occupational Health team
- Ensure active participation in continuing medical education (CME) for self and others
- Participate in regular audit activities of clinical activity and effectiveness that aid improvement of the service
