Safer Staffing Nurse lead, band 8a fixed term for 6 months

This post holder will be professionally accountable to the Deputy Chief Nurse but will operationally report to the Head of Workforce Solutions and will work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective use of agency and bank staff and support the wider nursing recruitment agenda. The post holder will have opportunities to influence the management of safety issues relating to safer staffing and will work with the senior nursing team to have a positive impact on patients and their experience and improve outcome of care.

The Safer Nurse staffing Lead is a key role working across People Services and Corporate Nursing to support and advise the Operational teams across the organisation with roster management to ensure safe staffing levels for our patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will

  • Liaise closely with Matrons, Ward Managers, Lead Nurses, Team Leaders, peers and senior nursing colleagues to ensure optimum levels of care are achieved through the provision of effective rostering and workforce planning systems (E-Roster and eCommunity)
  • Assume a lead role in Working Committees and Groups to ensure 24 hour continuity of roster implementation
  • Work closely with the Service and Clinical Directors in services, ensuring at all times that an open communication pathway is maintained
  • Develop and maintain communication with people on complex matters, issues and ideas or in complex situations
  • Network closely with clinical leaders and managers across all care groups
  • Contribute to strategy formation and organisational decisions, communicating to varied audiences where necessary
  • Chair meetings of varied groups either nursing or related to nursing, as required
