The Medical Education department aims to provide high quality support to all doctors in training who work with us at NCIC. The team's focus is to enable each doctor to have the best education experience they can whilst working with us in order for them to get the most from their training with the hope they come to work with us at NCIC.

Medical Education work across the county and region with several HE institutes as well as NHS England NE (formally Health Education England North East). Portfolios include undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, supporting the education and development of over 300 doctors each year.

The team work directly with doctors of all grades and members of staff across all services. The work varies day to day and includes support activities such as setting up and welcoming doctors at induction through to reporting quality outcomes in line with our education agreement and standards.

Medical Education and those working in the department must work collaboratively across the Trust and it is an area that receives good feedback from its stakeholders with successful programmes which are expanding each year.

Main duties of the job

This post with focus on one of two Medical Education workstreams:

  • Foundation Programme
  • Specialty Programme

The post holder will be expected to take a lead on this programmes and ensure they meet the requirements in the education contract and internal/external requirements. They will be supported and support the Medical Education Manager and clinical leadership structure in place within Medical Education.

Some examples of main duties of the post include:

  • The programme is set and operating as it should
  • Requirements of the education programme are effective and efficient
  • Governance processes for reporting, tracking and resolving issues is in place
  • Administrative support for educational leads is adequate and appropriate
  • Quality evidence is collated and reported
  • Identified improvements are supported and progressed
