Job summary

Band 7 - Trauma Coordinator (Nursing or AHP)

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an temporary Band 7 Trauma Coordinator to join the existing Emergency Care Team.

You will be responsible for the coordination of care for all adult & paediatric trauma patients admitted to the Trust. You will be involved in the admission, transfer and discharge of this patient group.

The department seeks to provide a high quality, safe and supportive environment to all patient groups in which their identified physical and psycho-social needs can be met.

Healthcare Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.

Main duties of the job

The trauma coordinator is an autonomous role, with a key part in supporting the major trauma network and trauma patients in the trust. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day management of major or/and any trauma patients from admission to their early rehabilitation phase. They will be responsible for liaising closely with members of the multi-disciplinary groups of individuals, drawn from the specialities of emergency medicine, intensive care, surgery, nursing, allied health, and support staff, who work together as a team to assess and manage the trauma patient. The role will involve participating and lead training and education within ED and wards, chair and manage the Trauma nursing/AHP steering group for the site, liaising with the TARN data analyst and the trauma lead for the site.
