Job summary
Clinical Nurse or Physicians Associate Endoscopist Band 7, 37.5 hours per week
An opportunity has arisen to undergo training as a Clinical Endoscopist. This post is supported by HEENE funding who will provide immersion training during the first year in post. The first year will involve training in colonoscopy but ongoing training may be available in gastroscopy at a later date. This post is open for applications from Registered Nurses, Physicians Associates or other Allied Healthcare Professionals. The post is a full time Band 7 training post but on successful completion of training and achieving the necessary competencies the post holder will move up to an 8A Clinical Endoscopist post.
Main duties of the job
The service provides complete care for patients with disorders relating to the gastrointestinal tract. Surgeons, physicians, specialist nurses and allied health professions work closely together to provide in house multidisciplinary care for all patients with gastrointestinal problems both in the emergency, electives inpatient and outpatient setting.
- Provide high quality, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy services
- Consistently meet maximum waiting time targets for suspected cancer patients, routine diagnostics and patients requiring further planned/surveillance procedures
- Provide urgent access to inpatients for endoscopy procedures as appropriate
