Job summary

The Tavistock Clinic was founded on the basis of a mission to support veterans to recover from the psychological impact of their work on mental health functioning through novel psychotherapeutic interventions. This innovative approach to supporting mental health in the workplace, and the training and development of those whose work is in the field of mental health care, continues today.

i-THRIVE is the implementation of theTHRIVE Framework for system change(Wolpert et al., 2019), translating the principles of the THRIVE Framework into local models of care using an evidence based approach to implementation. i-THRIVE has been designed to enable a move towards delivery of a population health model for children and young people's mental health and promotes the use of Quality Improvement techniques. Sites are supported with implementation through coaching and consultation, thei-THRIVE Toolkitand alsothrough training via thei-THRIVE Academy, a set of learning and development modules created for cross-sector professionals that support children and young people's mental health.

The Workforce Innovation Unit (WIU) brings together the National Workforce Skills Development Unit (NWSDU) with the Trust's specialist change and organisational development consultancy, Tavistock Consulting, and the National i-THRIVE programme.

Main duties of the job

  • Identify new commercial opportunities for i-THRIVE offerings, and contribute to written proposals, tenders, pitches and presentations and successfully converting these to sales to client organisations across all sector.

  • Design and deliver world-class, cutting-edge organisational consultancy interventions, which have a significant impact on organisational performance. This includes a range of activities aligned with organisational aims, sponsor objectives and participant concerns including a diagnostic approach where appropriate, expert process facilitation of groups, change consultancy and bespoke programme design and deliver.

  • Facilitate online, face to face and hybrid workshops and events for groups of participants, including lectures, conference presentations and enabling those groups to connect to and engage with complex, challenging and often contentious themes and issues in relation to implementing principles of the THRIVE Framework

  • Work individually with leaders and managers across sectors and engage professionally to deliver insight and impact in complex, and challenging situations

The Organisational Consultant is responsible for delivering highly-specialist organisational interventions.

Project delivery encompasses a range of activities including planning, budgeting, design, delivery and evaluation and will require the consultant to engage a range of cross-sector clients in carrying out individual, team, leadership development and organisational consultancy.

Consultants will be required to work flexibly and proactively to deliver individual and project team performance, commercial focus, client outcomes, increased profile and reputation and ongoing learning and innovation.

To deploy high level analytical and judgment skills in assessing complex data sets and literature review evidence and applying it to project planning, scope, design, delivery and engagement tactics

Adhere to defined governance structure and ensure regular reporting on all projects including weekly and monthly reports, and other input at executive levels where required

Provide leadership and advice for project managers, building a strong delivery-focused programme team to successfully deliver agreed outputs.

Support delivery of change management, communication and engagement planning as required, to ensure all staff are fully appraised of the change required, and fully involved in all changes that directly impact the way they work

Accountable for ensuring all risks and issues are identified, prioritised, assessed and mitigated, ensuring senior stakeholders are briefed, updated and where appropriate enrolled in the management and control of key risks.

Communicate complex, sensitive, and often difficult or contentious information to clients as part of project delivery.

Analyse and draw out key systemic and underlying themes from initial engagement, ongoing delivery and project evaluation. Engage with key client stakeholders to feedback resulting themes, insights and recommendations with empathy, clarity and impact in relation to the THRIVE Framework

Take up a supervisory and training role as part of the delivery of i-THRIVE academy modules and wider implementation where required. Initiate and develop new relationships with potential clients and other key stakeholders and influencers through promoting the work of the WIU, networking at events, publishing and speaking in media including website and social media and responding to approaches from potential clients in a way that engages them through understanding their context, request and concerns

Connect with the national i-THRIVE Community of Practice and other related associations to enhance the Trusts reputation and to develop new thinking to support National implementation

Rapidly build, develop and grow relationships vital to the success of wider projects and programmes across the WIU

Work collaboratively with peers, associates and colleagues within the National i-THRIVE Programme, TC and across the WIU team taking up a range of roles in relation to other team members and trust colleagues (e.g. project lead, co-deliverer, contract manager.

Work collaboratively with peers, associates and colleagues across TPFT where appropriate on related programmes and themes, providing expertise, advice and insight.
