Job summary
The post holder will join the Mental Health Support Team in Schools (MHST). This is an early intervention service that provides high quality support to children, young people, and families, presenting with mild - moderate concerns. Support to schools includes advice and signposting, consultation, delivering brief evidence-based interventions through universal (e.g. whole school approach), targeted (e.g. class or small group intervention) and individual one to one therapeutic support. A key remit of MHST is helping schools develop their whole school approach to mental health. Our work endeavors to join with schools in the promotion of a positive ethos and culture surrounding the social, emotional, and mental health of the entire school community.
Main duties of the job
As an MHST Senior School Practitioner, the post holder will be involved in assessment, consultation, intervention, evaluation as well as mentoring activities. The post holder will be required to work within a multi-disciplinary team delivering a range of outcome focused,evidence-based interventions. This will include the delivery of individual and group interventions. The post holder will undertake comprehensive clinical assessments of young people and families, with development of formulations to guide treatment planning. They will provide high quality communication with families and professional networks.
The MHST Senior school practitioner will support the induction and development of other staff members, such as newly qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and Child Well-being Practitioners (CWPs). They will act as a positive role model and participate in theeducation, development and mentorship of other staff.
The post holder will contribute to the quality, safety and continuous improvement of services provided to service users and their families. They will take a lead role with projects involving quality improvement and patient participation. This will be a community-based post, most of the work taking place in school settings or other community settings. The post holder must be able be able to work collaboratively with other members of the team, other teams and with our allied partners across education, health, social care and the charity sector.
