Specialist Paediatric Dietitian – Eating Disorders

We have a new exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic dietitian with energy and drive, to join our team.

We are part of the largest NHS acute trust in England, including the second largest tertiary children's hospital in London. We provide several tertiary paediatric services including Surgery, Cystic Fibrosis, Gastroenterology, Allergy, Neonatology, Neurology, Diabetes and PICU. We have a diverse cultural and ethnic population and cover some of the most affluent as well as socially-deprived areas of the country.

This new exciting role will cover Eating Disorders across East London Community covering the boroughs of Tower Hamlets, City and Hackney and Newham. You will work as an integral member of the well-established multidisciplinary Community Eating Disorders Service for Children and Young People (CEDS) and Paediatric Dietetic team. You will build upon current clinical experience and undertake some specialist dietetic training in eating disorders and paediatrics, in order to provide an effective, high quality and flexible clinical dietetic service.

The workload consists of mainly outpatients with liaison with inpatient services. You will be expected to attend specialist clinics/centres across the region. You will also have some opportunity to build your experience within other paediatric specialities.

You will ideally have good clinical dietetic experience. Paediatric or Eating Disorders experience is desirable, but not essential.

Main duties of the job

Working within the Eating Disorders Service, the post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary Community Eating Disorders Service for Children and Young People (CEDS) and Paediatric Dietetic team. They will build upon current clinical experience and undertake some specialist dietetic training in eating disorders and paediatrics, in order to provide an effective, high quality and flexible clinical dietetic service. The post holder will undertake training and audit on a regular basis to ensure that practice is evidence based.

The role will include:

- Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary clinicians in CEDS to provide specialist assessment and advice to CYP and their families. This may be delivered in an individual or group format and include nutritional assessment, dietary counselling, motivational interviewing, negotiating targets, developing care plans and communicating these with relevant health and other care agencies.

- Actively participate in the development of dietetic provision in the service - including the Intensive Pathway and provision of groups

- Actively participate in the delivery of specialist paediatric dietetic training and eating disorder trainings, in collaboration with multi-disciplinary clinicians, to enhance understandings of how to best support CYP with and eating disorders and their families
