Locum Consultant in Geriatrics ( Acute)
Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months Post

Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group is looking for a full time Consultant Geriatrician to join our Older People's Services (OPS) team based predominantly on the Whipps Cross Hospital site.
Whipps Cross University Hospital is part of Barts Health NHS Trust and is situated in Waltham Forest, North East London. The hospital serves a diverse local population of more than 350,000.
Our department is undergoing a period of expansion and service development in conjunction with the local health economy to provide a first-class service to our local population both in and outside of Whipps Cross University Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post offer an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and to develop new models of working and services that support all older people attending the hospital and within the local community. Whipps Cross Hospital serves a local population with a high degree of frailty and within the Barts Health Group is being developed to be a centre for Geriatric Medicine.
The post-holder is expected to be based in an acute geriatric medicine ward providing care for patients with multimorbidity and frailty.
The service currently supplies inpatient services including Acute Geriatrics, a Frailty unit, Orthogeriatrics, Surgical liaison. We also provide CGA clinics, we support memory services and the Barts Health Dementia and Delirium team.
We are entering an exciting time of development for services in our brand-new Hospital being planned at the current time and this post is part of a significant investment aimed at transforming geriatric medicine care on the Whipps Cross Site.
We're looking for dynamic individual to Lead our team with their ideas and enthusiasm, as well as a passion for providing excellent clinical care to older people.

- MRCP or Equivalent Specialist qualification
- Full GMC Registration with license to practice
Desirable
- Evidence of participation in research (peer reviewed publications etc.)
- Appropriate higher degree (e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent)
Experience

- Higher specialist training in Geriatrics and G(I)Medicine
- Broad experience in Geriatrics and G(I)M
Desirable
- Ability to organize and deliver a teaching programme.
- Experience in service development
- Current ALS certificate
