Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Department at Royal London Hospital for a Service Delivery Manager. The role is open to all applicants with a proven record of operational delivery and service management, or those wishing to progress their career with experience of staff management, service improvement and operational delivery.

With the goal of achieving excellence, you will actively participate in the operational delivery of the service and will monitor the performance of the team you support to ensure we are meeting the national targets. You will work closely with your line manager to deliver the department's clinical strategy, working to achievable and realistic targets. The department is constantly seeking to improve the services it provides for our patient and there will be opportunities to lead and manage your own projects.

A key part of your role is ensuring that you deliver a first class customer service experience through your confident communication style. Your ability to effectively manage our administrative team and support our reception supervisors will be critical for this role.

A positive attitude and ability to have a fully 'hands-on' approach will be essential for the operational delivery of the service.

Main duties of the job

The Delivery Manager is responsible to the Service Manager for the overall performance of the Emergency Department. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery of services to patients in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints. The key purposes of this role, includes but is not limited to: To managing the key A&E performance targets, and demonstrate continuous improvement in patient experience with particular reference to a balanced demand and capacity plan. To support the clinical teams develop the service in accordance to the clinical strategy. This will include working with Clinical Directors, Consultants, Matrons and Head of Nursing. To ensure that there are clear and transparent measures of success (KPI's) for your service/s and these are delivered at the required level. You will resolve operational problems and escalate to Service Manager where necessary. You will also develop processes and allocate work/resources to ensure a high functioning service.

You will support the directorate's implementation of service improvement as appropriate and general development of services. You will play a key part in supporting change in supporting clinical teams plan and review care pathways.

You will look after and nurture the staff that you manage to help them to develop their knowledge and skills.
