Retinoblastoma MDT Coordinator

Job summary

The London Retinoblastoma Service is one of only two national treatment centres in the UK, delivering specialist care to children across The Royal London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

We are seeking an organised and proactive MDT Coordinator to support the coordination of multidisciplinary meetings, cancer pathway tracking and data reporting for this nationally commissioned service.

Key duties include:

  • Coordinating and administering MDT meetings
  • Preparing and circulating patient lists, agendas and accurate MDT outcomes
  • Tracking patients against national cancer waiting time standards
  • Maintaining cancer datasets including COSD via the Somerset Cancer Registry
  • Liaising with clinicians, managers and external Trusts to support safe and timely care

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in NHS administration or patient pathway coordination
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and IT skills
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines in a sensitive clinical environment

Experience of MDT coordination, cancer pathways, Cerner/EPIC or paediatrics is desirable.

Main duties of the job

The London Retinoblastoma service is one of 2 National treatment centres in the UK. We are a primary treatment centre for the diagnosis and treatment of Retinoblastoma.

Treatment is provided across sites at The Royal London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

1. The post holder will be responsible for providing MDT (Multidisciplinary) coordination, data management and administrative support to the Retinoblastoma Service.

2. The post holder will lead the administrative management of all MDT meetings, attended by a wide range of senior clinical staff.

3. The post holder will ensure MDT meetings are organised effectively and efficiently and are fully documented to ensure that all measures defined in the Cancer Plan and National Peer Review Standards are met appropriately.

4. They will be responsible for compiling patient discussion lists for distribution and they will act as the central point of contact for the MDT. This will include the recording and distribution of accurate minutes and liaison with other departments and external Trusts to ensure that all relevant clinical information is readily available on a timely basis, to assist in optimising the patient's journey and care.
