Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Theatre Practitioner (Band 5) to join the Ophthalmology Theatre team at the Eye Treatment Centre, Whipps Cross Hospital.
We are looking for a committed and proactive Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to support the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care within our busy ophthalmology theatres. Previous ophthalmic theatre experience would be advantageous, however training and support will be provided for the right candidate.
The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator and team player, working closely with a wide range of multi-professional colleagues to ensure the smooth running of theatre lists and a positive experience for our patients.
You will demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. A willingness to support, supervise and coach colleagues is also important, alongside a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
Main duties of the job
To establish high standards of pre/ peri and post-operative clinical care
To contribute to the delivery of high standards of practice in all aspects of the service and in clinical skills
To coordinate clinical activities and develop clinical expertise through leadership
To assist in the smooth running and organization of the shift team
To rotate through the Ophthalmology Department
To ensure high quality patient care is delivered and take appropriate steps if this is not the case
To participate in the delivery and organization of formal and informal teaching
To participate in activities/ projects which contribute to the provision and delivery of evidence- base practice
To provide health education and advice
