Job summary
Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking to appoint Trust Doctors (equivalent to ST3+ level) in Reconstructive Microsurgery to join the Plastic Surgery department at the Royal London Hospital.There are five posts available within the department, with varying start dates to support service delivery across the unit. One position is available to start as soon as possible, with further posts expected to commence at points throughout the year including September 2026, October 2026 and April 2027. Exact start dates may vary depending on service requirements and successful candidates.The Royal London Hospital hosts a busy and dynamic Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery service, providing care for a large and diverse patient population across East London and beyond. The department delivers a wide range of services including reconstructive microsurgery, trauma reconstruction, oncological reconstruction, and complex plastic surgery procedures.
Main duties of the job
Successful candidates will join a supportive multidisciplinary team and will gain experience in managing complex reconstructive cases while contributing to ward care, theatre activity, outpatient clinics and participation in the on-call rota where appropriate.
Applicants should have:
o Full GMC registration with licence to practise
o Experience at ST3 level or above (or equivalent) in Plastic Surgery or a related surgical specialty
o An interest in reconstructive microsurgery
o Strong communication and teamwork skills
These posts provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a high-volume tertiary plastic surgery service within a major London teaching hospital.
