Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Band 7 Paediatric Neurology Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the team at The Royal London Hospital.

The successful candidate will work closely with the paediatric Neurology consultants and Neurology/Epilepsy clinical nurse specialists to deliver high-quality and compassionate care across both inpatient and outpatient pathways.

This role is suited to a dynamic and empathetic individual with a passion for improving the experience and outcomes of patients with Neurology conditions including brain injury. The CNS will play a central role in coordinating care, supporting families, and acting as a clinical advocate throughout the patient journey--from acute admission, diagnosis, through to rehabilitation and discharge planning.

The ideal candidate will have:

Clinical experience caring for patients with Neurology conditions. A strong understanding of the complex physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges associated with Neuro conditions and brain injury.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in supporting families during periods of distress and uncertainty. A proactive, organised approach to managing a caseload and contributing to service development.

You will be part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to improving patient outcomes and driving innovation in Neurology care.

Main duties of the job

The Royal London Hospital is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Paediatric Neurology to join our world-class multidisciplinary team. This is a pivotal role within one of London's busiest and most diverse paediatric services. You will act as a vital link between our patients, their families, and the medical team, providing expert clinical care, education, and emotional support to children with complex neurological conditions.

The post holder will assist in the continued development of the paediatric neurology service and work in close conjunction with the consultant Paediatric Neurologists and the paediatric Neurology Clinical Nurse Specialist.

The post holder will work in conjunction with Senior CAG management team to develop the strategic plan for the Paediatric Neurology service, taking into account the continuous quality improvement programme, to ensure the delivery of an efficient and cost-effective service.

The post holder will ensure that the aims and objectives of the Paediatric Neurology service are delivered and implemented to continually improve the standard of care that children receive, including any National guidance.

The post holder will provide advice and support and training to staff caring for this specialist group within Bartshealth and act as a resource for members of the MDT. The role also includes providing advice and support to children & their families.
