Essential
- MB ChB or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration with a license to practise
- FRCEM or equivalent ('equivalence' must be confirmed by HEE/GMC) and entry onto the specialist register for emergency Medicine
Desirable
- MRCP or equivalent additional higher qualification

- Experience as a locum Consultant experience or acting up MD MSc
General Professional Training
Essential
- Entry on the Specialist Register in Emergency Medicine, or that at time of interview the applicant can produce evidence that he/she is within six months of CCT date and is expected to achieve CCT
- ALS, ATLS, APLS provider
Desirable
- Instructor status in Advanced Life Support Courses, MIMMS provider
