Job summary

The Trust provides maternity care to over 16,500 women including a homebirth service on all 3 maternity sites. Our client group includes many women with complex clinical conditions. To support our care of both mum and baby we have a Level 3 Neonatal Unit situated at the Royal London Site, a level 2 Neonatal Unit situated at the Newham Site and we have excellent facilities in Fetal Medicine. We also have a stand-alone midwifery-led Birth Centre's situated in the Isle of Dogs. In addition, we have two co-located Birth Centre's.

The postholder will assist with care of women under the direction and supervision of Midwifery trained staff in the hospital and community.

The postholder is key in ensuring good communication with women and their families, liaison with key stakeholders and departments to ensure safe and timely discharge from hospital, working in par with the midwife or ward managers.

Main duties of the job

As a Maternity Care Assistant, you will be working alongside the Maternity and Obstetric team assisting with care of birthing people and their families during the antenatal period. The role is perfect for those who want to consolidate their training and gain experience and skills working in Maternity services.

Practical tasks will include patient assessments, chaperoning and assisting the clinical team. The role involves some administrative tasks involving record keeping. If you have good communication skills and ability to work within the multidisciplinary team, then this job position is for you.
