Consultant Clinical Scientist - Head of Treatment Plannning
The Radiotherapy Physics team at Barts is looking for a Band 8C Consultant Clinical Scientist (Physicist) with a passion for Treatment Planning and vision to help lead the department to join the team. The successful candidate will specialise in leading the treatment planning service, with a team of 12 dosimetrists and 3 physicists. They will also work as a member of the integrated team in other aspects of the department, maintaining their skills and experience across the broad range of Radiotherapy Physics. The Radiotherapy Department has 5 TrueBeam linacs with Hypersight OBI, RapidArc and Gating facilities. Two have 6DoF couches and HyperArc for SRS. External Beam Treatment Planning is carried out on Eclipse v18, Brachytherapy Planning is carried out on the Brachyvision module of Eclipse. The Department has ambitious plans for the future & this posts will strengthen the team for the busy programme ahead. The department is an accredited training department for STP and HSST Programmes as well as a very successful track record for actively supporting physicists in submitting their portfolio for MPE registration with RPA2000. Main duties of the job
Manage the provision of the Treatment Planning service to Radiotherapy, acting as lead specialist in the field; Provide scientific oversight and lead the development of clinical radiotherapy physics and play a leading part in the research and development programme for the department.
Maintain an awareness of developments in the field of radiotherapy and radiotherapy physics. Seek to introduce innovative practice into clinical use.
Provide leadership to the Radiotherapy Physics Team in conjunction with the Head of Department and ops team.
Take responsibility for the Aria RadOnc Information System and act as system manager for Aria and Eclipse.
The primary duties are in support of the Radiotherapy Service. The work entails a high degree of autonomy and scientific ability in the field of Medical Physics. The postholder will be an Operator as defined by the Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations (IRMER17).
