An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced, and committed Band 7 Occupational Therapist with a clear and established passion for Stroke care to join our Hyper-acute and Acute Stroke Team.
This post is ideally suited to a strong candidate with existing specialist experience in acute Stroke, who is enthusiastic about delivering high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Therapy and is keen to play an active role in service development and improvement. You will work as part of a large, friendly, and dynamic multidisciplinary team, providing specialist intervention to a complex and culturally diverse patient population.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
A genuine and sustained passion for Stroke rehabilitation, with proven experience in hyper-acute and/or acute Stroke settings
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High levels of initiative, enthusiasm, and adaptability
Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to manage challenge and conflict effectively
Barts Health offers a robust teaching and training programme, with opportunities to lead or contribute to quality improvement and audit projects. You will be supported in developing both your advanced clinical and leadership skills, including supervision of Occupational Therapists and support workers. Ongoing professional development is encouraged, with close support from our Band 8a Clinical Specialist Neuro Occupational Therapist.
Main duties of the job
To provide clinical leadership on the Hyper Acute (HASU) and Stroke Rehabilitation Unit (SRU) at the Royal London Hospital (RLH) to include the Stroke Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) pathway from the Emergency Department (ED)o Undertake a team leader role, working alongside the Clinical Lead and fellow Band 7 therapists, in planning, co-ordinating, delivering, and evaluating the Occupational Therapy service provided for patients across the Stroke pathway.o To take a lead role in the assessment, treatment, and management of highly complex Stroke patients including those with multiple comorbidities and complex social situations.o To communicate effectively with other health and social care professionals, regarding patient care, progress, and planning of rehabilitation and/or discharge needs.o To be responsible for the day-to-day clinical and operational management ensuring professional delivery of the Occupational Therapy service with support from the wider Stroke therapy team.o To deputise for and support the Clinical Lead when and where required.o To take a lead role in the development of the Stroke therapy team in line with RLH therapies and team objectives.o To participate in weekend/bank holiday work as part of a rota.
