Job summary

The Paediatric Infectious Department at the Royal London Hospital, a part of Barts Health NHS Trust, is seeking to appoint a 5PA locum Consultant. The post will have an overall DCC:SPA split of 4:1.

The post is based at the Royal London Hospital located in Whitechapel, London, part of Barts Health NHS Trust (Royal London Hospital, Barts Hospital, Mile End, Whipps Cross and Newham Hospitals) which is now one of the largest trusts in the UK. The trust has close links to the other district general hospitals in the North East London area and provides a tertiary referral service. It is a condition of the appointment that the post holder will be willing to work in any of the Trust's locations.

The post holder will practice at an advanced level demonstrating a high level of autonomy and clinical decision-making. They will work as a highly specialised member of the inter-professional team to ensure that the clinical needs of the patient and families are met at all times. The post-holder will be fully accredited in Paediatrics. They will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.

Main duties of the job

The unit is proactively promoting quality improvement practices clinical governance, and the appointee should be able to demonstrate skills in audit, risk management and evidence-based guidelines. The unit is also interested in any proposed innovative ways of working and welcomes any suggestions from the successful applicant. Applicants are expected to be on the specialist Register or within 6 months of receiving their CCT at the time of interview for UK trainees within an approved training post; with GMC registration with a license to practice.   • MBBS or equivalent degree

  • On GMC Specialist Register in Paediatrics
