Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, ambitious and motivated Rotational Senior Radiographer (Band 6) for Core Services Plain X-ray, Theatre, Dental, Fluoroscopy & CT. This Position will be based at St. Bartholomew's Hospital which is in the heart of the City of London- St. Paul's.

We offer a full range of local and specialist services, which includes centres for the treatment of cancer, heart conditions, fertility problems, endocrinology and sexual health conditions. The hospital includes the site of the new state-of-the-art Barts Heart Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Europe's largest specialised cardiovascular centre. The appropriate candidate will have good general radiographic experience, be resilient, flexible and able to demonstrate leadership and clinical supervision skills. The post holder will work closely with the Clinical, Radiographic and managerial teams.

Applicants for all posts above must hold a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or the Diploma of the College of Radiographers and HCPC registration.

Main duties of the job

Working within a multi-disciplinary team the post-holder will contribute to the safe and effective running of the imaging department and will be able to perform a wide range of x-ray examinations to a high standard. The post holder will be required to rotate through general x-ray, fluoroscopy, CT and theatres and they will participate in the delivery of a 24/7, 365 service. The post holder will offer supervision to band assistant practitioners, imaging assistants, students, apprentices and visitors to the imaging department. The post holder will ensure patient flow in the trust by actively managing the flow of emergency and in-patients to ensure same day imaging. The post holder will be key in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and experience. The post holder at all time will demonstrate a high level of professionalism and act in accordance with the HCPC standards of proficiency. Furthermore, they are expected to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff members characterized by trust, mutual respect and open, honest communication

  • Up to date knowledge of general imaging techniques
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Awareness of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care.
  • Understanding of factors affecting service throughput and quality
  • Completion of preceptorship
  • Experience of on-call and out of hours roster

  • Greater than 18 months post-graduation experience.
  • CT Radiography experience
