Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust, is seeking a full-time Substantive Breast Consultant. Candidates should hold CCT or equivalent certification or be due to obtain CCT within the next six months. We are looking for an enthusiastic clinician with breast oncoplastic training to join our multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, and support staff in the Breast Department.In return, this post offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and to develop new models of care and services that support all patients attending the hospital and within the local community. We are developing a dedicated breast cancer centre of excellence at St Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London.

However, there will also be a requirement for you to attend other hospitals within the Trust where appropriate for work or training.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a Licence to Practice and on the Specialist Register for General / Plastic Surgery (or within 6 months of application)
  • CCT or equivalent certification CCT to be awarded within 6 months of date of interview

Desirable

  • Higher medical or Surgical degree

Experience

Essential

  • Training and experience in Breast Surgery
  • Oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery experience essential
  • Experience in cancer management
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

  • Research undertaken in a relevant field
  • Management experience including appropriate training course
