Job summary
The Department of Neurology at the Royal London Hospital is a vibrant and expanding department, embedded in the culturally diverse district of east London. An exciting opportunity has arisen to employ a Clinical Fellow in Neurology, grade ST4. This post would primarily cover the Neurology Planned Investigation Unit/ Day Case Unit at the Royal London Hospital, based on ward 11D. This would be an excellent opportunity for a resident doctor with an interest in and/or experience in neurology and research to gain further experience and training in a busy and established teaching hospital. We actively encourage training and attendance at regular CPD team meetings.
Main duties of the job
The clinical trials work takes place on ward 11D. You will work in an enthusiastic, friendly specialist unit, based in state-of-the-art facilities in the newly built Royal London Hospital in the East End of London. This job will focus on clinical support for a portfolio of neurological trials and studies. You could be a part of new emerging treatments for neurology as well as improving the experience and quality of life of patients with chronic neurological conditions. The trials will include a range of neurological conditions, including chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), multiple sclerosis (MS), motor neuron disease (MND) and epilepsy. This job will focus on identification of patients who are eligible for trials, recruitment and care of participants taking part in trials. The role will involve conducting specialist assessments as per trial protocols. This job will offer the applicant the opportunity to explore areas of clinical research as well as performing clinical duties in a supportive environment with scope to grow both professionally and clinically.
This post would not include any on call or out of hours work, and is tenable for 12 months (in the first instance).
