Job summary

Applications are invited for Junior Clinical Fellow at FY2/ST/ST2 equivalent level to work in the Acute Medicine department at The Royal London Hospital for a fixed period of 6 months, commencing immediately.

This post could be 6 months in Acute Medicine with general medicine on call. The successful applicant will be expected to take on the role of one of our acute medical SHOs, with responsibilities to match. The department is closely linked to Emergency Medicine, and all inpatient medical specialties.

The duties in Acute Medicine will include regular shifts on take/post take as well as ward work in the form of senior input and conducting independent ward rounds and clinics with consultant support.

The post-holder will be supported by a large team of Acute Medicine Consultants, specialty registrars and consultants and an expert multidisciplinary team. There are daily consultant sessions in AAU providing support to trainees.

Main duties of the job

Being part of the AMU team, which includes:

Consultant supervised ward rounds on the AMU, with the support of other trainees.

Ambulatory Emergency Care clinic with regular input from an Acute Medicine consultant.

FY2/SHO rota take and post take shifts. The take is mainly undertaken in the ED. The day take consultant will work alongside the clinical fellow, conducting 'mid-take' reviews in real time and the take team will conduct the Post Take Ward Round on the following day. On night shifts the clinical fellow will work with the medical registrar and other SHOs, under a non-resident on-call consultant.
