Job summary

Maternity Observation Unit at Barts Health, Newham University Hospital NHS Trust is seeking experienced, self-motivated, dynamic and assertive Maternity Observation Unit, trained Registered Nurse or Health Care Practitioner capable of making decisions in relation to immediate pre/ post-operative care. There are 4 beds in our Maternity Observation Unit at Newham University Hospital NHS Trust providing post-operative care in Maternity. As well as providing specialist care in immediate post-operative phase and for wardable patients, it also includes caring for complex, critically ill patients (level 2) giving you the fantastic prospect to advance your existing clinical skills as well as being an excellent managerial learning opportunity. Also expected to line manage the Maternity Care Assistant, care out preassessment and manage stock on delivery suite. Possessing exceptional interpersonal, communication and organisational skills is essential to this role to be able to lead a team and have insight into team structure, dynamics and development.

Main duties of the job

You must have sufficient Nursing/ Midwifery experience at band 6 level and have evidence of completed CPD.
