Senior Pharmacy Technician - Band 5

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacy technician to join our Cancer Services team at Bart's Health NHS Trust.

The post holder must be ready to work in a busy environment and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The role will be based at St Bartholomew's Hospital and is a great opportunity for the right candidate to gain experience of this busy service and develop their existing skill set as well as learning new ones.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support and supervise a team of pharmacy assistants and work with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver patient focused, quality care, based at St Bartholomew's Hospital.

To enable pharmacy to have patients' needs at the centre of the service, the post holder will be moving away from a traditional dispensary and medicines management services delivery model by utilising skills and knowledge from both areas to become one multi skilled team in all aspects of pharmacy service delivery - dispensary and medicines management services. They will jointly work on the wards and deliver quality care to patients at ward level through efficient medicines optimisation as well as support the management of ward based and dose banding dispensaries.

  • BTEC level 3 Diploma in Principles and practice for pharmacy technicians or equivalent
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
  • HEE LaSE Medicines Optimisation qualification or equivalent
  • LM Level 2 Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent
