The Ultrasound Service at Mile End Hospital is expanding as part of a new Community DiagnosticCentre (CDC), responsible for a wide range of subspecialties (non-obstetrics) such as GeneralAbdomen, Gynaecology, MSK, small parts and head and neck. Other specialties such asPaediatrics, Obstetrics, and Fertility through potential rotation to other sites The Royal London andSt Bartholomew's hospitals.
This is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated and adaptive Sonographers to join our team.The posts are based at Mile End Hospital CDC providing a 7-day service with 12-hour days yourshift pattern will be 8am -8pm over 7 days planned on a rolling Rota to meet service demand.
Our CDC Practice Educator Sonographer will support your development and training opportunitiesin collaboration with Clinical Education Lead Sonographer .Novel ways of working and roleexpansion to develop enhanced and advanced clinical pathways are both supported andencouraged. CASE accredited Medical ultrasound qualifications and NHS working as aSonographers is essential.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team in Imaging, liaising with those involved to ensure that appropriate imaging, reporting and management of the patient is provided when and where necessary. They will maintain a high professional and technical standard of ultrasound imaging at the newly established Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Mile End Hospital which will be a 7-day service with 12-hour days Non obstetric service. There will also be the potential to rotate through The Royal London Hospital and St Bartholomew's Hospital.Our Sonographers undertake clinical work within established quality standards of practice, adhering to Ultrasound guidelines such as those published by BMUS, RCOG, RCR and NICE. The post-holder will work within departmental protocols as a practitioner in thedelivery of all ultrasound imaging, reporting and management of the patient.
The post-holder will also liaise with key Lead Nurses, Obstetricians and Gynecologists in the Women's Health Division, as well as the Radiologists in the General Ultrasound Department.In the absence of a Lead Sonographer, the post-holder will oversee the day-to-day workloadto ensure staff and resources are allocated to the area and managed effectively.
