Deputy Antenatal and Newborn Screening Co-ordinator

Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated midwife to join the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team at Whipps Cross University Hospital to facilitate an efficient and caring service for our women and babies.

You will be supported to develop specialist skills and knowledge of all of the screening pathways, as well as leadership skills in this area. You will participate in data collection for Key Performance Indicators, mandatory teaching, auditing and will report on the effectiveness of the six screening programmes, in order to continually improve the service. The existing team have developed high quality screening pathways and are dedicated to making continued progress in this area. We look forward to meeting candidates who are also dedicated to improving patient care and experience through the work of the screening team.You will require good IT, phlebotomy and communication skills with the ability to work well with patients and the multidisciplinary teams.

Main duties of the job

The post includes ensuring all women and babies are offered antenatal and newborn screening at the optimal time. In working with the multiprofessional team, the post holder will work to deliver the screening programmes effectively through the development and maintenance of effective failsafe processes. Where screening is completed and a high chance or positive result is received, the post holder will be involved in the counselling of women and their families with the result and any subsequent care that is offered. The role also includes aspects of the clinical care of women with infectious diseases in pregnancy,As the deputy screening coordinator you will work closely alongside the screening coordinator and the screening teams to ensure all antenatal and newborn screening programmes meet national standards.
