Locum Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology

Job responsibilities

The appointee will work alongside 5 established Diabetes and Endocrine consultants at Whipps Cross University Hospital.Specifically, the post holder will support provision of inpatient care for patients with metabolic and general medical problems, and also out-patient care for patients with diabetes or endocrine presentations. There is a weekly radiology/clinical meeting, a weekly journal club, and a monthly governance meeting, which the new post holder will be expected to attend. Qualifications

Essential

• .GMC registration of ade-quate duration
• .MRCP or equivalent

Desirable

• .Higher Research De-gree

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Essential

• .Broad experience in diabe-tes and endocrine clinics and ward work
• .Excellent clinical skills
• .ALS certificate

Desirable

• .Experience in conduct-ing clinical trials

• .Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team - clinical and management
• .Ability to manage staff and resources effectively
• .Ability to communicate ef-fectively with GPs and oth-er professionals in hospital and community

• .DAFNE training includ-ing course observation

Knowledge

Essential

• .Detailed knowledge of Di-abetes and Endocrinology and of the specialist skills required for this post
• .Knowledge of multi-disciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable com-mitment to improving quali-ty of care to patients
• .Understanding of modern medical curricula and commitment to life-long learning
