Job summary
This role will give you the opportunity to work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) primarily across Neuro & Trauma (Major Trauma, Orthopaedics and Plastics), in addition to the Neurosurgical/Neurology wards, and our Rapid Access to Acute Rehab (RAAR) service to provide seamless integrated care in line with our WeCare values and behaviours. The role is available full time (37.5hrs/wk) and will include regular weekend working (approximately 1 in 6).
You will be responsible for assisting Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and nursing staff in assessing and providing evidence-based intervention for patients in our different services. This includes supporting patients with their optimal rehabilitation and discharge management plans, including assisting with their activities of daily living towards functional goals.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, plenty of initiative and enthusiasm, be confident using technology and have the ability to work as a part of the wider MDT.

Main duties of the job
- The post holder will be primarily expected to assist in the assessment and treatment of patients across Major Trauma, Orthopaedics and Plastic wards. In addition to possibly working over the Neurosurgical wards as needed. As part of this post, there is an expectation to complete weekends (approximately one in 6), which will be on the Rapid Access to Acute Rehab (RAAR) service. This will involve patients who may have varyingcomplex physical and cognitive presentations.
- To carry out delegated patient treatments, interventions, and functional assessments, either individually, with a therapist or in groups.
- To assist with delivering aspects of daily care such as washing, dressing, feeding, toileting, getting in and out of bed.
- To complete delegated administrative and organizational tasks that support the daily needs of the therapy service such as equipment stock taking.
