Job summary
We are recruiting for a student midwife to join our Maternity services at the Royal London Hospital.
The two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery aims to produce competent, caring, autonomous and evidenced-based midwives, capable of delivering effective woman-centred care for mothers, birthing people and their families in any context.
Midwives of the 21st century practice within dynamic, rapidly changing and diverse contexts and require personal, academic and professional skills to practice in an optimum way.
During the two-year course, time will be spent 50% with London South Bank University Southwark and 50% with The Royal London Hospital Barts Health NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job
To be eligible for this programme applicants will need to meet the following entry criteria:
- A registered Adult nurse (level 1) with current registration with the NMC
- A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2:2: with a minimum qualification of Diploma in Higher Education with evidence of study at Level 6
- Post qualification clinical working experience as an adult nurse on the NMC register in the UK
- For applicants whom English is not their first language, they must achieve a minimum score of 7.0 overall or equivalent, with not less than 7.0 in the listening, speaking and reading sections and not less than 6.5 in the writing section for the International English Language Test Score (IELTS) at the time of application OR for the Occupational English Test (OET) with minimum B grade. OR You have completed a pre-registration nurse, midwife or nursing associate programme that was taught and examined in English. During that programme you must have spent at least half of your time interacting with patients, service users, their families and other healthcare professionals, and at least three-quarters of these interactions must have been in English. And you have recently practiced for one year in a country where English is a majority spoken language.
Students applying for this funded training post (mid-point band 5 salary), should note that this training grant will also include University tuition fees of £9535 per annum.
