An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the cardiac team at Barts Heart Centre within Barts Health NHS Trust as our prevention service expands. The post provides several opportunities for professional and personal development, contributing to quality improvement projects, supervising a variety of staff and supporting the delivery of world-class and innovative cardiovascular services.
You will also be expected to contribute to the research agenda working with staff across the Pharmacy departments and student placements. You should have experience in services within cardiac and/or cardiometabolic care and have a clear vision of how you see the future of clinical pharmacy services within the specialty
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as a specialist clinical pharmacist to deliver patient focused, quality care across NEL. The principle objective of this role is to provide patient focused pharmaceutical care, defined as the responsible provision of medication to achieve definite outcomes that improve patient's quality of life for patients in the community.
The post holder communicates effectively with patients to help optimise their pharmaceutical management and through liaising with other health care professionals to design, implement and monitor therapeutic plans to optimise health outcomes.
To assist lead pharmacists for the relevant clinical area, in promoting high quality, cost effective and safe prescribing. The post holder will provide pharmaceutical services to the clinical areas relevant to the specialist area of the rotation and to the hospital site involved.
The post holder will participate in education and training to primary care clinicians across NEL and will assist in the provision and development of clinical pharmacy within the service.

- Significant experience of working as a registered clinical pharmacy practitioner at a minimum of Band 7 level or equivalent
- Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide patient care
- Ability to undertake and facilitate quality improvement, reflective practice, teaching and CPD
- Experience of leading and supervising research, quality improvement or audit projects
Desirable
- Operational management experience in a complex environment
- Experience of providing hospital -based clinical services to cardiovascular services at Band 7 level or equivalent
- Experience of managing a budget
