Job summary
The Maternity Services at Barts Health, Royal London site are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Bereavement Midwife to join our team of specialised midwives.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced midwife that would like to specialise in Bereavement or someone with Bereavement experience that is looking for a challenge in our busy Maternity Unit.
This is a permanent (1.0 WTE) B7 position. Job share/ part time will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The midwife in this position will be responsible for providing care, support and practical advice to women and their families following the loss of their baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal or sudden infant death syndrome. This will require to work across different areas of the Trust including maternity, neonatal unit, A&E and gynaecology wards. The post holder will be responsible to make sure we fully uphold the standards of the National Care Bereavement Pathway.
Part of this role will involve the development of a teaching package and supporting junior midwives and other health care professionals to make sure every staff member is familiarised with bereavement documentation and procedures needed in order to maintain the service sustainable across the 24h during the whole year.
