Barts Health NHS Trust

Senior Cath Lab Administrator

The closing date is 27 August 2025

Job summary

The Cardiovascular CAG is offering an exciting opportunity to join the Barts Heart Centre's Cath Lab administrative team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who will play a pivotal role in the efficient and high-quality operation of the Inter-Hospital Transfer (IHT) service, and accurate data collection for the Admitted Cardiology service.

The purpose of this post is to work closely with the IHT Coordinator to ensure IHTs are booked in a timely manner in line with service targets, provide vital cross-cover for administrative roles and responsibilities in the wider service, and assist in the accurate data management of the Admitted Cardiology waiting lists.

In return, we will develop your skills, knowledge and experience with formal and on-the-job training.

Your primary base will be St Bartholomew's Hospital, West Smithfield, London, EC1A 7BE. During times of cross cover for the ward receptionists, you will be expected to start work at 7am. We will enable flexible working patterns where possible.

Please note: When calculating the basic salary for sponsorship, HCAS (High Cost Area Supplement) is not included for non-medical roles. This ensures fairness and consistency within our organisation, as some of our sites fall under inner HCAS, while others are classified as outer HCAS.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Cath Lab Administrator will play a pivotal role in the efficient and high-quality operation of the Inter-Hospital Transfer (IHT) service, directly supporting the IHT Coordinator in the administrative coordination and scheduling of IHTs; management of the IHT waiting list; and the maximal utilisation of IHT slots to meet key service targets. Daily responsibilities will include liaising with external hospitals to complete checklists and book IHT patients and updating key service software's such as Labyrinth and the IHT network.

In addition to playing a key role in the IHT service, this role will be responsible for accurate data management, including maintaining clean waiting lists across the cardiology admitted service through validation tasks, and supporting the generation of comprehensive weekly audits for senior management.

This role requires proactive problem-solving, identifying and escalating issues that could impact patient treatment, and providing seamless administrative cross-cover for the wider service, including IHT Coordinator absences, ward reception staff, Cath Lab schedulers, and the AMI/Atlas administrator.

Strong communication, empathetic handling of enquiries, and a collaborative approach within the Cath Lab Cardiology Administration team are essential for this post.
