Paediatric Haematology Nurse Specialist

Job summary
We are seeking two nurses for an exciting opportunity to work on a rotational basis across the Paediatric Medical Day unit and supporting the Haematology CNS. The Paediatric day unit is a nurse-led, 25 bed unit and the Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) cover a caseload of patients with conditions including Sickle Cell and Thalassamia as well as benign haematological conditions such as ITP and autoimmune neutropenia. Your role would focus on managing the varied caseload of haematology patients, which on the day unit will primarily be blood transfusion including automated red cell exchange. You will have support from the CNS, to gain new skills and knowledge across the speciality and will gain insight into other specialities which are serviced on the medical day unit.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, ideally with previous experience on a day unit and with an interest in Haem. There will be opportunity to gain new skill and knowledge by working across the day unit nurses and the CNS
This is a full-time position and to meet the needs of the service, the working hours will be 8am-6pm,4 days a week.
Main duties of the job
Develop the specialist skills, knowledge and expertise to care for children and young people with sickle cell; thalassaemia; rare anaemias and their family in clinical practice.
Ensures the process of nursing is developed to meet the individual needs of each patient, providing well documented assessment, care planning and evaluation.
Responsible for setting, providing and maintaining high standards of clinically effective nursing care at all times.
To work closely with the day care team ensuring effective use of human resources on the ward to ensure safe and efficient service delivery
