Job summary

The Acute Medicine team at the Royal London Hospital is looking to appoint enthusiastic and dynamic nurses to the post of Staff Nurse within the Acute Admissions Unit (AAU).

We admit patients directly from A&E and ambulatory care to our 52 bedded AAU and aim to provide an exceptional standard of care whilst maintaining the flow of patients throughout the hospital. We care for a wide range of medical specialties including Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Endocrinology, Haematology and Acute Medicine.

Support and development from your Band 7 nursing team , including Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses and a dedicated Practice Development Nurse for the Acute Admissions Unit.

Support each shift from our 15 strong band 6 nursing team.

Newly qualified nurses can undertake our dedicated Preceptorship Program and we have wealth of different training opportunities to develop your acute care skills.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate nurse to join our Acute Admissions Unit. In this role, you will deliver direct, high-quality patient care aimed at promoting health and enhancing overall well-being. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualised care, ensuring that clinical priorities are met efficiently and effectively.

As a key member of the team, you will also play an active role in coordinating safe and timely admissions, discharges, and patient transfers, supporting smooth transitions throughout the patient journey. This role requires good clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
